# Tariff Watch > US import tariff rates, traceable to the document that imposed them. Every rate carries > its legal authority, the document URL, the date that document was published, and the date > we last verified it against the source. Tariff Watch publishes the duty a US importer pays on a given classification from a given country of origin, on a given date. It is operated by Attoscale LLC. ## How to cite Cite as: Tariff Watch, tariffwatch.io, retrieved {date}. Please include the retrieval date. Tariff rates change frequently and without notice, and a citation without a date cannot be checked. Where a page shows a "verified" date, that is the date we last confirmed the figure against the primary source; prefer quoting that. ## What the data is - **Column 1 rates** are parsed from the machine-readable Harmonized Tariff Schedule published by the US International Trade Commission, revision 2026HTSRev17. - **Trade-remedy duties** (Sections 232, 301 and 338) are entered from the proclamations and Federal Register notices that impose them, and cross-checked against the Chapter 99 text. - **Rates we cannot verify are not published as numbers.** Where an action's current force cannot be confirmed against a primary document, the page says so in place of asserting it. ## Structure Duty is not a single number. A shipment carries the Column 1 rate for its classification, plus every trade-remedy layer whose scope it falls within. Those layers add against the same customs value; there is no compounding. Exceptions where one action displaces another are individually documented and cited, not inferred from a general hierarchy. Three details are commonly got wrong and are handled explicitly here: 1. Chapter 99 headings are not uniformly additive. Ninety-odd print a bare rate that applies *in lieu of* the Column 1 rate under U.S. note 1 to subchapter III. 2. Five economies under the 2026 Section 301 forced-labour action use paired headings that cap the combined duty rather than adding to it. 3. The tariff schedule retains headings after an action stops being collected. Presence in Chapter 99 is not evidence that a duty is currently in force. ## Important context as of 2026-08-31 IEEPA-based tariffs, including the reciprocal schedule, ceased to be collectible for entries made on or after 2026-02-24, following Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump (No. 24-1287, decided 2026-02-20). The Section 122 surcharge that replaced them lapsed on 2026-07-24. Any source describing the 2025 reciprocal rates as current is out of date. ## Pages - / Interactive map of duties by country of origin - /countries Index of every country with a US action against it - /country/{name} Per-country duties, layer by layer, with sources - /materials Product categories carrying a trade-remedy duty - /material/{slug} Per-product duty, authority, scope and classifications - /hts Index of Harmonized Tariff Schedule headings - /hts/{heading} Per-heading rates by country of origin - /changes Changelog of every rate change, with citations - /changes/{slug} A single change and the document behind it - /methodology How the figures are produced, and their known limits ## Machine-readable endpoints - /api/public/country/{iso3} Country duties, JSON. Rates shown for a 4-digit heading are those of a representative line under it. - Section 301 China list membership is published as annexes we have not yet ingested, so those lists are not applied per code. - AD/CVD orders are not yet covered. There is no reliable machine-readable source for them. - Figures are informational. Classification, valuation and origin determinations rest with the importer of record. Nothing here is a ruling or legal advice. ## Contact conor@attoscale.io
