What counts as each category
Steel
Iron and steel (chapter 72) and articles of iron or steel (chapter 73): ingots, flat-rolled sheet and coil, bars, wire, pipe and tube, fasteners, and finished articles such as cookware and shelving.
Aluminum
Aluminium and articles of aluminium (chapter 76): unwrought metal, plate, sheet, foil, extrusions, wire, and finished articles.
Copper
Copper and articles of copper (chapter 74): refined and unwrought copper, wire, plate, pipe and fittings.
Autos and parts
Passenger vehicles and light trucks (headings 8703, 8704) and their parts (8708).
Trucks and buses
Medium- and heavy-duty trucks, road tractors, buses and special-purpose vehicles (headings 8701 to 8709) and their parts. Buses take a lower rate.
Semiconductors
Computers and computer parts (headings 8471, 8473) that contain a high-performance logic chip meeting the thresholds of U.S. note 39(b). Ordinary machines are outside.
Timber and lumber
Softwood timber and lumber (headings 4403, 4406, 4407). Upholstered wooden furniture, kitchen cabinets and vanities (9401, 9403) take their own rates.
Drones and UAS
Unmanned aircraft and their parts (heading 8806). Announced, not yet collectible.
China lists 1 to 4A
Goods of Chinese origin on Section 301 lists 1 to 4A, about 10,000 subheadings across most chapters. Too broad to rate as a category; supply an HTS code.
Solar cells and modules
Solar cells and modules (subheadings 8541.42, 8541.43).
Electric vehicles
Battery electric passenger vehicles (subheading 8703.80).
Lithium-ion batteries
Lithium-ion batteries (subheading 8507.60).
Medical supplies
Facemasks and other textile medical articles (6307.90), and syringes and needles (9018.31).
Ship-to-shore cranes
Ship-to-shore gantry cranes and other lifting cranes (heading 8426).
Alcoholic beverages
Beverages, spirits and vinegar (chapter 22) of Canadian origin.
Dairy
Dairy produce, eggs and honey (chapter 04) of Canadian origin.
Furniture
Furniture, bedding, mattresses and lamps (chapter 94) of Canadian origin.
Apparel and footwear
The 23 apparel provisions and one footwear provision named in U.S. note 51(b)(3) (chapters 61, 62, 64), of Canadian origin. Most clothing and footwear is outside.
