A shipment starts at the Column 1 rate for its classification. That rate is the same for every origin with normal trade relations.
Trade-remedy duties sit on top of it, each under its own statute:
- Section 232, national security.
- Section 301, unfair trade practices.
- Section 338, discriminatory treatment.
They add against the same customs value. Nothing compounds. Where two actions exclude one another, an executive order says so by name, and that is the only kind of exclusion applied.
Some Chapter 99 headings do not add. Around ninety print a rate that applies in lieu of the Column 1 rate. Five economies use paired headings that cap the combined duty instead. A country page says which applies.
The two schedules on the map
Current schedule: what is collected on entries made today, as of 2026-08-31.
IEEPA reciprocal schedule: the country-wide ladder collected under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act until 2026-02-23. On 20 February 2026 the Supreme Court held in Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump that the statute does not authorise tariffs. Collection stopped for entries made on or after 24 February 2026.
An importer who paid under that schedule may be owed a refund. The refund review works from it.
Reading a duty stack
Each row is one programme that applied:
- the rate as the schedule prints it;
- its contribution to the total;
- the Chapter 99 heading it is reported under;
- the date it came into force;
- beneath it, the proclamation or notice, its publication date, and the date it was last checked.
A programme that was considered and did not apply is listed underneath with the reason.
The mark beside each programme name is its statute. IEEPA and Section 122 are retired; their marks carry a strike.
Country-wide and product-specific
Colour on the map is a country-wide additional duty: a rate on everything of that origin.
A dashed border marks a country that also faces product-specific action. That depends on what is shipped, not where from, so colour cannot show it. Select the country to see both.
Dates
An action takes effect for goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse, on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern time on the stated date.
Every rate carries the date it was resolved for. The actions record lists each change with the document that made it.
